Homosexuality

Recently, this word “homosexual” becomes very popular among Chinese students. I always hear this word in class or in some activities. I think it does not mean more and more students are becoming homos. Actually, it means that our generation’ ability to accept new thing becomes stronger and stronger.
As we all know, homosexual is a special group whose sex orientation was different from most people. For instance, in general, boys like girls or girls like boys. However, homos only like persons who have the same gender. The research that scientists did proved that most homos’ sexual orientation depends on their genes, so this kind of homos’ sexual orientation is inherent. Just a small quantity of homos changes their sexual orientation, because they get bad stimuli from opposite sex and that leads to their fright (or other negative emotions) of opposite sex, so they prefer the person who has the same sex.
In China, Some adults and elderly people may think that homos are very abnormal and disgusting. They think gay are sissy and lesbian are tomboy. Actually, it is a kind of prejudice. In my opinion, homo is not abnormal, it is just not common. Not all sissy guys are gay and not all gays are sissy. Sex preference could not account for their characters or personalities. Also, homos are a group that is not admitted in China. There was a traditional concept that boys should bear their children. Otherwise, they would be considered not filial. So, you know how hard they live in the society as homos.
When I studied in the high school, there were several lesbians in our school, and one of them was my friend. She was a kind person, she did not have any bad habits, so I think it does not matter weather she was a lesbian.
In summary, I think we should judge persons through their personalities, not their sexual orientation. It is their right to choose their partners. What we should do is to mingle with them in the way we get along with ordinary people. If they are sure that they can live a happy life, we could become their friends to support them.
