Earth Hour

Yesterday, I went to Orchard Road to take park in ' Earth Hour' activity which required the main landscape lights would be turned off from 8:30-9:30p.m. This activity was held worldwide from New Zealand to the west. It aim at calling for the protection of the earth.

A lot of volunteer in blue t-shirt read ' 60' and ' Earth Hour' stayed in different area along Orchard Road. In front of Ngee Ann City, there was a big screen which reflected the situation of main stage. A lot of students came and sat there. World Wildlife Fund ( WWF) sold some handmade inventions of LED light for charity which people could use for later activity: witness the process of shutting down the lights. From the screen , I saw the chairman of WWF and the symbol, Panda on the stage and talked about the importance of turning off lights which were not used. The chairman said that Singapore was the chief sponsor this year and it was the first time buildings around Orchard Road would turn off their decorative lights. Time went fast and we started to count down to 8:30p.m and people cried and cheered loudly. The volunteers in blue held candles and from the sky, we would see the word " Singapore" made from the light of candles. I started to record everything around me and could not wait witnessing that important event. Suddenly, it came. Almost all the landscape lights along Orchard Road were turned off including some lights from luxury stores. Then an video was played on the screen. In this video, what impressed me most was a sentence ' What should we do beyond these sixty minutes?'

Yes, this activity is good for environment on the earth, but one hour is never enough. What we need to realize is that no matter how successful this activity is , it is only a flag giving the public a correct direction to protect our earth. There are a lot of actions in our daily life waiting us to fulfill. The purpose of ' Earth Hour' is to remind everyone. We should keep this pure wish everyday.

Beside the reflection on Earth Hour, I am thankful to Singapore. In the past, I felt lonely because I turned off the lights in my home for an hour on this day but I can not find a lot of people to response this ,too. When I came to Singapore, I could understand what a international city means. It means to take more responsibility to the whole society. Well, it did lead us to realize the urge of environmental protection. I love this country which gave me a lot of experience and broaden my eyesight.

More details about horoscope

In my last oral report, I have made a brief introduction to all of you. Now, what I will talk about is to make some correction and add more details about horoscope.

First, I want to add a word about these suspicions about if horoscope is credible. In fact, before I have someone to read my chart, I also asked him the same question. His answer is, believe it or not. Anyhow, it is a good choice for you to kill time when you fell boring. It is also an entertainment, but there is infinite possibility is horoscope, not as simple as the 12 sign system.

Base on the former question, there is another detail I want to add. That is, we’d better use ‘accept’ rather than ‘believe’. What is ‘believe’?  Does it just like qizhong mentioned, follow everything in horoscope? Actually, horoscope is used to make you know yourself, not to give advice on what you should behave. Horoscope is not a religion.

Besides, maybe you will be interest in what horoscope really focuses on. The analysis horoscope gives it not the character you have now, nor the things going to happen. The analysis is gives is just the inborn feature of you. It can be change by your own experience. In other words, God made a road for you, but whether you want to follow it or make a change is depend on yourself. It is not good news if the analysis of your chart matches you very well because that means you just followed your inborn feature and didn’t make even make a small change.

There is also a point about the analysis horoscope gives. You may feel sad when there are many negative features on your chart.  However, there is no absolute positive or negative in horoscope. Horoscope acknowledges that all negative influence can be transform to positive influence. For example, there is a big cross which means extreme unfortunate in Chairman Mao’s chart, but he conquered all the difficulty and achieved great success at last, so as many notable. On the contrary, people have a kite or an Equilateral triangle in their chart can always be more fortunate and have a smoother life than others, but they will be less likely to achieve great success because of the lack of challenge. Spurs has done a splendid job so far. Thanks to Popovich, they remain surprisingly competitive this season. The rotation is perfect under his control. I do not deny they can do a good job in the regular season. However, when it comes to the playoffs, an aging GDP, plus several youngsters are definitely not the answers. As we know, the quality of a team’s core players, instead of the number of available players will determine how far it will go in the playoffs.

Clippers

Billups’ season-end injury signifies Clippers’ champion dream comes to an end. Of course, Clippers know how his injury hurts and managed to bring N.Young to their lineup. I admire their ambitions and what they have done before the trade deadline. Unfortunately, this cannot change their fate this season. N.Young cannot replace Billups’ role in many dimensions: the understanding of games, the control of rhythm and experiences, which are badly precious for Clippers.

I was quite angry when they traded Kamby and Wallace, fired McMillan and fired Odon. It is obvious that they have given up. Once I expected this team so much. Sadly, I have to say goodbye to them.

Denver is a rather interesting team. They have a lot of talents and they also have a good couch. They have some experiences and they do not lack a terminator.    Now, though Inzaghi is already 39 years old, he is still fighting on the football field and trying to break more heroic records. His nickname, Super Pippo, used by his fans depicted him very well. He is regarded as the ghost wandering on the offside lines because of his excellent sense of judging the destination of the moving ball, extremely rapid response to the ball and unique ability of grasping the chances. It is nearly impossible for the defenders to be able to follow his really mysterious steps. He has become every defender 's nightmare.
   Some people who have not watched his wonderful performance before may consider Inzaghi as a talented football player both in intelligence and physical conditions if they only have heard about his fame and stories. In fact, they will be totally wrong. On the contrast, Inzaghi possesses neither high speed or strong body nor excellent techniques. Due to his great effort and endless passion toward football, he becomes world-famous as the most efficient striker in Italy within the last twenty years.
   There are also some funny stories about Inzaghi. He finished his college in only two years and successfully got the accountant certification. What is more, he is still a single now!
   In conclusion, he succeeded in using his endless huge effort and passion to make up for his disadvantages in physical aspects, and that is the reason why I love him very much. May he can have a good ending in A.C. Milan.

 Lining says that everything is possible ,and i found that everything can be changeable .several days ago,i went to the NUS OPEN HOUSE ,and i found i was not interested in any faculties or any disciplines .I just wander around the hall 2 ,finally i come to the civil and environment engineering forum and resorted some information to them.i was so ignorant of me to ask the same question again and again,because i really do not understand what will i learn in that faculty .Also ,i had consulted some other disciplines about what to learn in the year 1 to 4 or whether it is too difficult to study and some questions that others will also ask .although i had no idea about what kind of disciplines i am interested ,i said i would choose environment engineering when someone asked me what i will learn after coming into the NUS.and it was really such a long time that i thought the environment engineer was my final destination and choice,but truth be told i was wrong .after experiencing the whole last Saturday i changed my mind as quickly as eating up a piece of  pure black chocolate .because i was moved by the lectures given by science professors and also the students who are from science faculty.i thought about my unprocessed decision again and again .finally i decided to choose coming into science because i am good at mathematics even though i really do not love it at all.Another reason why choosed it is that i found myself difficult to learn or accept the new knowledge and things ,but mathematics is an special exception and i can understand it even though i do not listen to my teacher in class. i decided to learn it not out of my interest but find it easy for me to learn.so from last sunday to tonight i thought i owned my final idea.maybe you can imagine the result .yes ,i changed my mind again just before i wrote this blog .the reason is almost the same to the last one ,i came to the computer open house to listen their propagation .actually it was a coincidence that i would go there.Wednesday or Thursday i was checking my nus email out of boring and i found a message from my computer teacher-professor Tay,and the message said the receiver should resend an email to him if he or she want to join the open house .but i misunderstand its information and i sent it back even though i really do not want to join it .so today i came there and the whole 1 hour i just sited there playing my new ipad ,fortunately ,they offer us free and luxuriant dinner .it is the most delicious meal i have in Singapore .in order to thank their great treat ,i decided to consult some question about IS .Someone had said to me that the God will lead people and things to the good way.and i did not agree it until that moment when i came before the IS agency,i decided to choose it after about half an hour's communication and talking with them.maybe it is out of my interest or the delectable dinner.but at this moment i really want to learn it .even if i will change my mind again and again after next second .it is really a funny thing ,nothing is impossible and everything can be changeable ...........

Mrs. Sonali- Liu Yifei

Yesterday afternoon was probably the most memorable time for me since I came to Singapore. My host family took me to experience both the Chinese flavor and the European environment. However, it was not the scene impressed me, but the tender warmth between the lovely couple.

Jackson is from Singapore and Rachel from Korea. They met each other in a church in their university years in America. The first time I met them, I found them more like sister and brother than husband and wife since they looked alike. Maybe that is so-called a husband-wife look. Every time I see them in their Facebook profile photo smiling next to each other, I hear them really saying “I love you”.

We first arrived at the Chinese Garden. We saw the turtles and huge fish in the lake. But since a heavy rain arrived, we decided to drive to a western café in Dempsey Hills to have an in-door tour. After entering the café, I thought Rachel and Jackson may want to sit face to face with each other. But Jackson asked me to sit opposite to Rachel and he sat next to her. When having coffee and snacks, Rachel shared to me about her embarrassing school life in America. She was sent there at 10 year old without any English basis. Since she did not understand what other students said, when one of her classmates asked her if she was relative to Bruce Lee since her last name was also Lee, she just answered “yeah”. Rumors flew in the entire school, even her teacher came to her for confirmation.

We were totally amused by that story. I noticed Jackson’s sight was on Rachel from beginning to end and he also laughed out loud with love sparkling in his eyes. I guess he must have heard about this story for many times but he still laughed so passionately and happily as if he never knew it before.

After we went back to the car, Jackson reminded everyone to check if we have left anything in the café. Rachel suddenly found her mobile phone missing. As we were worried whether we had left it at the Chinese Garden, Jackson gently smiled, saying:” your phone is here with me.” He slowly took out it of his pocket, “I just like to fool my wife.” Rachel smiled back and tenderly pinched Jackson’s face, "Jackson always makes me feel silly like this!”

I wanted to say “you are going to be great father and mother when you have kids!” but I finally just thanked them for the unforgettable journey and the rain even made it more interesting. Every time I hear they call each other “sweetie” or “honey”, I just can picture Jackson hugging Rachel from her back, laughing and walking together clumsily in my mind.

Summary of the Dark Knight

On seeing the title of this movie, I thought in this movie there would be a lot of fights and the batman would be a hero who punish those government officers or cops who receive bribes. However, after seeing this movie, I found I was totally wrong.

Because we have watched this movie together, I won’t introduce the plots here. In general, in this movie the batman defeats the evil. There are three main characters, the batman, Joker and Harvey Dent. The batman is still the batman we are familiar with; Harvey Dent is an inspector who is a fair man seeking for justice but failed finally. Joker is an insane person who wants to find excitements form all kinds of rules-broken affairs.

It is obviously that the director’ favorite character is Joker. Compared with the batman, despite those action plots, Joker’ every word, every movement is pondered carefully. He is a person who dislikes those opinionated schemers. He just wants to break the rules and show the schemers the so-called rules are very weak. Consequently he behaved weird; he broke the rules of the mobs and then broke the rules of those government officers. Even in his last time he showed a strong desire to death, which is not our “common rule”. If all the rules you are familiar with and living on are broken, can you imagine how terrible your life will be? You would never know what you should do. You would even wonder if you should be dead or not. Can we call this the “freedom”? Joker wanted to show a real world without rules to the ridiculous public. Though finally Joker was caught by batman, in a way he was still successful. He broke rules and in Harvey Dent it turned out that human beings are ugly without the rules. Maybe my views cannot get across to you, anyhow, Joker is my favorite character and I think he is a “real” guy. Maybe I can call him a great person.

At the end, just like Alfred said in the movie, in this world there are some people who get bored of the “great rules” and want to see what the world will be if the rules are broken. What will the world look like without rules? Who knows…

Reflection on ATM machine in Singapore

Recently, I went to ATM machine to withdraw and deposit money. Then I found an interesting thing which was different from China. The design of the sequence of ATM machine system is totally different. In Singapore, if you go to DBS ATM machine to withdraw money, after you confirm the amount of money, machine will flash the light at the entrance of your card to remind you to take away the card before get the money. In Citibank ATM machine, you need to assert the card to it and remove it immediately, then the machine will start to offer service for you. Why do they design for this ? Maybe you cannot find out the answer unless you stayed in a country whose ATM machine would offer service first and did not notice you to take your card away. The reason is that people tend to focus on the money they withdraw, that is , they may check the amount of money and unfortunately, a lot of people will forget to fetch their cards and cause a lot of financial problems.
This is the interesting thing I found in Singapore. I cannot help praising the considerate design of ATM machine in Singapore. It can well protect customer's property and information from revealing also save the time of bank which may caused by this. It require a subtle change in design but increase the safety of our money largely. I also found other considerate design of services and goods in Singapore. In some way, I can understand why my country will send a lot of leaders in government to Singapore to learn the skill of management and decision making. In this well-developed country, I learn so many new things in life.If I got a chance I would write a letter to the bank in China for suggestion that they should adjust the design of AMT machine like what Singapore banks do. Living is a kind of learning knowledge from practice. Observing surrounding with our mind, we can learn something tiny but useful, which may contribute to our future as well as the development of a country.

Fighting!! Xiong Dun!!

She dreamed to be a cartoonist, but she joined in the advertising industry.

She was suffering from lymphoma, but she drew up a cartoon which cured countless friends` mind on the Internet.
On February 2, she published a cartoon called "Get out! Mr. Tumor!" And now has over 2.2million hits.
Her name is Xiang Yao, but most called her Xiong Dun. She said the name is based on Newton and her favorite animal bear.
"My life is cut into two space-times by this severe illness" Xiong Dun said at the beginning of her cartoon. Can you imagine what she has suffered when a 29-year-old girl can say such an aching sentence? However, she once said that there is no predicament which cannot get out. What life gives to me, whether ups or downs, happiness or sadness… all the emotions and experiences can be the material of her cartoon? Is it the truth?

         Nowadays, in China, helping people who fall down on the road is not just a simple thing anymore. Since people saw what happened to Peng Yu, many people claim that they no longer want to help others because they do not want to be trapped in a deception and sentenced to compensate money. However, do they really know what happened to Peng Yu ?

          First, let us see what really happened to Peng Yu according to the media. In 2006, An elderly woman went to bus but fell down on the road. Peng Yu lifted her up and sent her to the hospital. It seems that Peng Yu is a citizen worthy of praise and there would be a happy ending. To our surprise, the elderly woman asserted that it is Peng Yu who knocked her down, but Peng Yu said he had merely wanted to helped her and denying hurting her.Each side sticked to his or her own version and later the older woman sued Peng Yu at court.

    

         
          During that time, when people heard this news, they immediately supported Peng Yu and accused that elderly woman of lacking a heart of gratitude and even deceiving her benefactor. Finally the court forced Peng Yu to pay some money to the elderly woman, and after that, people said they were less likely to help others because after seeing the poor situation of Peng Yu, they suspected whether it is a right thing to help others.

    

          If this event just ended this way, it is nothing special. The recent news said Peng Yu actually admitted that he knocked down the old woman at court. Maybe you think he admitted just for ridding of the case, but when he called the emergency, he also admitted he knocked down an old woman and needed help. The fact is that he did something wrong and the elderly woman is a victim in not only the accident but the public opinion. Peng Yu and the media cheated one billion people, and none of them told the truth. We have been fools for four years.

    

         Next time, when you see some controversial topics, do not believe them easily. Sometimes what you see is not the truth but something that the media want you see. There are so many examples happened everyday, so we must be careful and think independently.

suggestion on our seat sequence

  On Tuesday, Difei mentioned our preference to the position of seats. I suggested that we would make draws to decide our seat sequence, but it seemed that no reception is arisen. So I want to use this blog as a proposal that we should make draws to decide our seat sequence. Here are some advantages.

  Firstly, it is fair for everyone to decide the seat sequence by making draws. On the present condition that the one who comes early can choose the seat he likes, we all come to classroom earlier and earlier to occupy a “good” seat. Since the boys’ buses always come earlier than the girls’, unless there is a special situation, the boys always take over the seats at the back of the classroom leaving the seven seats in the front of the classroom for girls. Thus this “first come, first served” method seems unfair to girls.

  Secondly, we can have a chance to take every seat and have a different experience. Most of us have formed a habit to take in one or two specific seats in the past three months. Besides, some of us have their own “good” seats so that they will take them unless they have been occupied by others already. For example, some of us prefer to sit in the back of classroom, and some of us like to sit near the power point. What is more, some of us are used to sit beside someone who is familiar, and they always sit in a fixed sequence. When we have the discussion, they always discuss with the same people, which cannot improve their spoken ability. By the method of draws, this disadvantage can be eradicated, and we all can have a fresh experience every day.

  Lastly, if we are assigned by the draws, we do not need to hesitate in choosing the seats. Most of us have difficulty in choosing, and someone will worry about which seat he should take. We may have the experience that when there are just several seats remaining, it is quite hard to choose. If we decide the seat sequence by making draws, we will never suffer from the feeling of hesitation.

  Above all the advantages, it is out of question that we should decide our seat sequence by making draws. So what is your opinion about this? I am looking forward to hearing your voices.

An interesting question

  There is an interesting question, if you happen to see a crowd in orchard road and they are watching a man who is trying to heal many patients who suffer incurable diseases or injuries and he does manage to heal them by just touching them, and then what is your reaction to this case? Surprised, just keep watching or ask the man for more information? In fact, this is the question we discussed when I attended an international students’ gathering. My answer was that I would just keep watching and see what would happen next. Because a man like him and doing such thing in orchard road reminds me of the scenes in some TV programs in China, and the man would always turn out to be a cheater or just doing advertisement. It cannot be true that someone would have such power to heal people. But most of the western students said that they would ask him for more information. I think they were not wrong but the education I received made me think that they would be easier to be cheated if the man actually was a cheater. What the cheater wants is just drawing their attention and then finds someone who believes him and then starts his cheat. The different answers reflect the difference on the way I think and the way western students think.

  And what about the following question, the man just walk and then touch a coffin and then the dead person finally stands up again, when asked who he is, he claims that he is God, would you believe in him? At this time, to my surprise, most westerners said that they did not believe him and they would just walk away. I was surprised because why they did not ask him for more information this time like what I chose to do. By the way, I did not believe, either. One of their explanation was very brilliant, she said she would not believe him to be a God no matter how many special power he showed her because she thought that God was not someone physical, he was not something you could see or touch, he was in heaven and also in everywhere…I did not remember all she said but I think what she meant is that God is something in you mind, he can influence what you think and do but you cannot see or touch him.

  Finally I try to get some explanation to our different answers and this is what I get: it is the religious that makes our answers different. I and most of the Chinese are free thinkers and we do not believe that there are Gods in the world and even there is not superpower like that man shows. And that makes me feel ridiculous when I see the scene above and will not believe. But the westerners believe there is God, like Jesus, and they believe that some special powers are likely to exist. That is why they will not think the man is cheater at the first scene.

   Maybe this question will not be interesting for some people, but at least I think it is interesting and we got many different ideas through our discussion and I surely learn something from this discussion.

We need hopes, so he did it

   The story began with a robbery. An evil man called Joker and some gangsters robbed the Gotham City Bank. During the robbery, Joker successfully played tricks to kill other gangsters and hogged the money. On the other hand, our hero, the batman, fought with some bad people and used his power to protect Gotham.

   When Batman, Gordon and Harvey planned to catch the gangsters and made Harvey become the public hero of Gotham, Batman found that his former girlfriend, Rachel, had become Harvey 's girlfriend. After Batman caught Liu, the accountant of the gangsters, the leaders of the gangsters agreed to cooperate with Joker to kill Batman.

   Then, Joker announced to the public that if Batman did not tell who he was, he would kill people every day. After Joker killed some famous judges and policemen, Batman wanted to tell the public that he was Bruce Wayne. However, Harvey told the public that he was Batman in order to protect Bruce. When Joker tried to kill Harvey, the true Batman came and arrested Joker . Surprisingly, they found that they fell into Joker 's trick when they were interrogating him. Joker told Batman that Harvey and Rachel were kidnapped at two sides of the city and Batman could not save them at the same time. So, Batman went to save Rachel immediately and Gordon went to save Harvey. However, when Batman arrived there, he saw Harvey instead of Rachel. At the same time, Joker successfully escaped from the police station and detonated the bombs. Sadly, Gordon was late to save Rachel and Harvey 's left face was hurt by the fire. Afterwards, Harvey could not control his emotion and became crazy due to Rachel 's death. Again, Joker played his trick and convinced Harvey that Rachel 's death was Batman and policemen 's fault. At last, Joker persuaded Harvey to avenge Rachel 's death on the policemen.

   Joker told the public again that he would rule Gotham. In order to protect citizens, the government used ferries to transport people. But when the first two ferries set off at night, they found that Joker had planted many bombs on both ferries. Joker gave them two remote controls and told them that they could detonate the bombs on the other ferry so that they could be safe by killing the other ferry, and if they did not press the button before midnight, both ferries would be exploded. After intense quarrels, both ferry did not press the deadly button. At the same time, Batman successfully beat Joker and destroyed his conspiracy. However, Harvey kidnapped Gordon 's family to the place where Rachel died. When Harvey scolded Gordon for his fault and wanted to kill Gordon 's son, Batman appeared and beat Harvey.

   In the end, Harvey died and Joker was arrsted, but there were other problems left. Harvey was the symbol of justice before, but now he attacked the policemen. Actually it was Joker 's purpose to destroy the whole city 's morality and order. So, in order to maintain the morality of Gotham, Batman undertook these accusations to maintain Harvey 's good figure in citizens' mind. Also, Gordon pretended to catch Batman and called Batman as the dark knight.

   Compared to Superman, Batman was really a different and much more real hero. He preferred to sacrifice his fame rather than let Gotham lose hopes. He was indeed a great man.

the most perfect dark

Last Friday, I watched THE Dark Knight. I like this movie very much.

In Gotham, Joker and his accomplices robbed a bank. Then Joker killed all the others and escaped alone. Batman, who is Bruce in the real world, Gordon and the district attorney Dent decided to eradicate the gangsters and make Dent to be the hero. Bruce held a meeting to show his support to Dent and announced publicly that Dent had a close relationship with Rachel.

One the other hand, gangsters gathered and discussed about coping with Batman, Gordon and Dent. The accountant Lau who worked for the mob fled and transferred all the money to Hong Kong. After he was taken by Batman, gangsters accepted the requirement Joker came up with before that they spent half of the money hiring Joker to kill the Batman.

Joker announced publicly that he would kill people every day unless Batman unmasked himself. When many officers were killed, Bruce was going to confess to the public. However, Dent claimed that he was Batman and was sent to the jail in order to catch Joker. Gordon and Batman successful attested Joker, but Dent and Rachel disappeared. When Joker was confronted with Batman, he told to Batman that they were in danger and Batman could just save one person. Batman found Dent instead of Rachel because Joker deliberately gave Batman the wrong information. Although Dent was saved, half of his face was badly hurt, while Rachel was dead forever. Joker, who escaped the jail with the bomb, went to the hospital and persuaded Dent to take revenge on people who did not save Rachel. Dent started to corrupt.

When Joker announced that he would conquer the whole city and threaten with bombs, people fled to other places by ships. At the same time, Dent decided others life by his luck coin. Unluckily, Joker had put bombs in both two ships. People in each ship would rather wait for the death than kill each other. Batman beaten Joker and saved people. However, Dent robbed Gordon’s families and wanted to get revenge. Batman saved Gordon’s families and Dent dead eventually.

Deciding to take the blame for Dent’s crime, Batman made himself a scapegoat in order to portray Dent as a true hero. At last, Gordon destroyed the bat signal.

What this movie impresses deeply on me is what happened on the ship that held the criminal. One criminal actively asked the policeman to give his the remote control. I thought that he would press the button. To surprise me, he threw it directly into the sea and sat down quietly. He gave up the right of living. It is this criminal not the policeman that threw the remote control. How sarcastic it is. What I have learnt from this episode is that everyone has weakness in personality. The hope which can guide us to light is not from the true hero. It comes from every ordinary person. It comes from our trust and belief.

I also want to express my admiration to Batman. I think he is the true hero. When people need him, he can try his best effort. When people lose hope, he will sacrifice himself. Moreover, he obeys his principle, which is the biggest difference between Batman and Joker.

If I were a superwoman

Once or all the time, I guess that everyone has thought of this question: If I were a superman or superwoman, what would happen? What would I do?

The answer can be so obvious. If I were a superwoman, I could become a hero just like Spiderman or Batman, travelling through the whole world to look for the inequity of the world and helping with building a world full of fairness. I could pay attention to the hungry and homeless people to secure their basic requirements of life, as well as consummate the system of education, especially mental education. I could protect the world from wars and natural disasters.

In fact, this is the answer given by one of my best friends. She holds the view that the responsibility people should afford, is closely linked to the ability they own. So she told me that if she were a superwoman, she would set a good example for the public and do whatever she can to ensure common people’s normal life.

As for me, however, I have to say that I seem to be too selfish; I would rather do nothing and keep on living a peaceful and normal life as others. One reason is that I always think no one has the right to decide and change others’ destiny. Another reason is that … I am too lazy.

However, these are not the most important reason which makes me determined. Living as a hero is not as easy as we used to regard it as, especially living as such a superhero. Being too excellent sometimes means being lonely, because you can hardly obtain comprehension and resonance from someone else. As we all know, people always want to be in, so a person who cannot find a group is so pitiful. Furthermore, a hero is always expected to do the right things, which may need him to sacrifice himself, his family, his friends, or even his lover. Can common people really understand a hero’s sadness and helplessness?

From my heart, I sympathize with these heroes in their sacrifice. I feel quite sorry, for their saving our world again and again, whiles few of them get the honour they are deserved.

If I have to draw a conclusion, I hope I could be an average person as long as I live. There will be heroes, and I would be glad to be an audience clapping for them.

Time travel

Picture this in your mind: One day, an accident happens to you and then you are in coma or you have already died. However, when you wake up, you are surprised to find that you get into another space time, what would you feel?

What happened in the first paragraph is called “Chuan Yue” in Chinese, which can be translated into time travel in English. “Chuan Yue” means that somebody travels from one space time to another one because of some reasons . For example, if a person is run into by a car or fall off a cliff, then she may get back to another space time and start her life again.

These years, books and TV series about “Chuan Yue” are very popular in China. Almost every story tell us that a girl who live in modern society has been in a serious accident, then when she wakes up, she is very surprised and find that she has been in another dynasty. Then this girl will meet several men and fall in love with one of them. At last, the story ends with a happy ending.

Everything seems pretty good until a tragedy happened. There were two girls in Fujian China suicide by jumping into a pool. In one of the girls’ dairy, she wrote: Don’t be sad about our death, we would go back to the Qing Dynasty and make a movie about the emperor.

A lot of people were shocked by this news, and they felt pity about the two girls’ lives. In addition, this news was heated discussed by a lot of people on the Internet. Some people think these “Chuan Yue” novels and TV series are lack of scientific basis and will mislead young people, we need to forbid them. Some other people also think young people’s parents have responsibility to take care of their children, and they need to lead their children.

In my opinion, here are two main reasons for this kind of tragedies. One is that nowadays’ even young students in China are suffering too much pressure, so they will look forward to the life in the “Chuan Yue” stories, which people don’t have to study math, physics and may have chances to learn a lot of Kong Fu.

Another reason is that young kids have a very strong willing to imitate but they don’t have a clear understanding about the world, they don’t know what death is, what love is and so on. Therefore, they can be affected by TV series or books very easily.

At this time, their parents should take the responsibility to take care of their children. They should choose TV programs carefully for their kids. After watching, parents need to discuss with children and tell them what is unrealistic in that TV programs. They need to teach their kids to distinguish between the stories in TV series or books and things happened in the real world. What’s more, parents and teachers need to work together when they find the kids are too stressful, trying their best to get the kids out of trouble.

In conclusion, “Chuan Yue” do is an excellent topic of stories, but we need to treat it correctly-just regard reading these stories as entertaining relax and have fun in these stories.

Four potential candidates for champion of western conference

Over half of the season has come to an end. It is undeniable that to survive in the western is still harsh. From my observation, four teams hitherto manifest the capacity to become the final champion in the western conference in the playoffs. The four teams are Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, L.A Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Paragon is the most suitable word to describe Kevin Durant. Some critics were doubtful about his loyalty which may never bring him a title as they consider. Kevin will definitely break their predictions to pieces. Thunder is making drastically stride every year. They keep their No.1 seat so steadily that it seems no other teams have opportunities to overtake them. Durant and his Thunder are truly awesome! Don’t forget they are also young and experienced. I remembered precisely that Durant said Thunder’s goal was champion the year before last year. Obviously, they are serious. Nobody is indulged in last year’s success. They summon their courage again and this time, champion is no longer far away.

Dallas Mavericks

Chandler’s departure hurts Mavs’ defensive system a lot. A healthy Mavs is nonetheless competitive enough to excel any opponents. The most imperative task in front of them is how to arouse enthusiasm of Odom. This will determine how far they can go in the playoffs.

L.A Lakers

An older Kobe and an older Fisher make Lakers less competitive than last year, which was a shame in Lakers’ history. In addition, Odom and Phil Jackson’s departure even exacerbates the current situation. Lakers will probably struggle in the playoffs, so I even hesitated whether I should eliminate Lakers off this list despite their firm resolutions. Memphis Grizzlies

Many people overlook them for all kinds of reasons. Recently computers of boys living in RV Hostel keep being attacked by some students we do not know. They want to cut others’ nets to ensure a high speed Internet condition for them. They are very annoying. Though RV office has posted a warning to them, I do not think they will behave them because RV office cannot find them. They can change their MAC addresses as long as they want. So I will you some solutions towards this problem.

First, if your operating system is WINDOWS XP, congratulations, it would be much easier. Open your Internet Explorer 6 and find the “diagnose” in “tools”. You will find you can surf the Internet again. If you do not use IE6, you can also solve this problem by changing settings. I will told you how to change the settings in next paragraph.

Second, if your operating system is WINDOWS 7, you also need to change your settings. I will show you how to solve it step by step.

First, click the net icon in the right corner.  open network and sharing center.

Second ,

Third, double click the local connection.

Forth, click preperties.

Fifth, click configue.

Sixth, click advanced.

Seventh, click network address (or sometiomes local Administrator address)and input a sixteen hexadecimal (12 bits). Click OK finally and you will find now you can log on your QQ again.

You can also apply this to WINDOWS XP.

That is all. Actually we just change our Mac address, just like Wen Xuezhi said in his oral presentation.

Black Mirror

Just now I accidently saw a British TV drama named <Black Mirror>. to say it is a drama, I would rather regard it as a movie. In the first season, there are just 3 episodes and each tells a delicate story about the desperate modern society dominated by high technology.

I do not want to spoil the mystery of your watching the drama because I really think it worth reflection. Here I would like to talk about my own opinion of it and guide you to the journey I just experienced.

BLACK MIRROR. What is a black mirror? We do see a world through it. However, all reflections are gloomy and gruesome. Even it is so similar to the real one, it is completely illusion. Technology bring enjoyment and quality to life, at the same time, bring illusion to engulf the real us. We have to admit some inferior workers in the technological society have to stick to their meaningless jobs after numerous repetitions. The aim is to supply adequate money for maintaining survival. The remainder is used to cover the expenses of technological entertainment with luxuriant outward appearance while insignificant content. Once used to the numb life in the black mirror, we are giving the newly-won control to the hidden producers.

A scene in the 2^nd episode hurt me so when bunch of people are working hard in the gym with entertainment on their individual TV screen. One grinned widely about a FIX PEOPLE EXPERT show as if no one else around him. At the same time, on the other guy’s screen, a piece of message said: Dustin likes BUTHERGUTS jumped out. There was no any contact expect for the one through the internet, even if the two people just sit adjoining. It reminded me of the true story of a mother sitting by a swimming poor, found her baby just accidently fell in the deep water. Instead of calling for help, she turned on twitter and created an event: my baby just fell into water! It seems that this world of anomaly is holding geeky people with exposing desire, peeping lust and indifferent estrangement.

Watching the drama makes me want to escape from the internet, inaugurate and prosper my touchable life. Things you can embrace are not in the mirror, but besides your arms.

My reflection on Sun Xu and Liu Peiyu event

     Yes, as you can see, I do choose such a sensitive topic. As a Chinese student, it is really hard to avoid bias when I am commenting on this event. Anyhow, I think I should have the right to express my own opinion as long as I do not violate other’s rights in Sg.

     As we all know, both the events are about some improper post their published on RenRen. Compare with the latter, I think the former（Sun Xu） is more unforgivable. In fact, the post he published on network is too offensive and he even used insulting words such as BIESAN (瘪三) and dog. As an adult and aboard student, of course he must take responsibility on what he did. But I am still wondering why he published such a post. According to his tone, it is distinct that he is unstable and even insane at that time. Though it is not a good excuse, as long as he apologizes, it is not necessary to kick him out. EHE…kicking the guy out is also an OK choice…I think I prefer to kick the guy out if the similar situation happened in China. =_=|||

      As for the latter guy, I do not think his situation is not as bad as the former one. Though there may be some things involve discrimination in his post, I do not think he means that consciously. Actually, it seems like he just come up such an improper joke and publish it without a second thought. Since he has made an apology for that and deleted the improper joke, why so serious about a joke. I think he should be punished so he can learn a lesson but kicking him out is excessive.

YouTube Girl and Dreams

It was the lunch break this Monday. After finishing my lunch, I wanted to watch some music videos on YouTube. Actually, I was looking for a new song from Taylor Swift. I opened the application on my cell phone, and searched the song’s name.

Most search engines (YouTube search, Google, etc.) tend to sequence the results in descending order according to how many people like each of them. That means, the most popular video should be on the top of the page, the least popular one at the end. Considering the song was originally composed and performed by Taylor Swift, the singer who had already won several Grammy Awards, I thought the first result that came up should be exactly what I wanted.

I admit I was a little surprised when I found Taylor Swift wasn’t the top. However, the top video was exactly the same song I looked for, but it was covered by an unknown artist. Wondering how a nameless girl could beat the famous Taylor Swift, I clicked into the covered video.

I was really astonished when I heard her voice!!! The song, even just a covered one, was incredible!!! The covered version is way much better that the original one. It was one of the best covered songs I had ever listened to!

Out of curiosity, I rolled down the page to see what other songs this girl had sung before. It turned out that all the videos in her YouTube channel were songs covered from other famous singers, no original pieces. Her earliest video was uploaded about 2 years ago.  In that video, she was wearing a T-shirt and jeans and, just like any girl who wants to become a star one day, sitting in her room, holding a guitar, recorded the video on her cell phone. I could even see Michael Jackson in the poster on the wall.

Yet, now, two years after that, her latest video was recorded in a studio. Perhaps it is just one tenth the size of Taylor Swift’s studio, one twentieth the size of Madonna’s, but anyway she had a studio to work in now.

In a video called “”, she thanked all those people who supported her on YouTube. She was in tears and said she learnt a lot from all the pain and sorrow she went through in the past two years.

Seeing this, I was suddenly moved.

Even though she is still nobody compared with those famous singers, she did move forward and tried hard to reach her dream. She knew how hard it is to become a real star, but she chose her road, and went on without hesitation.

How many of us would always let dream guide us, and just follow it through hard and thin? Several years later, when we are all old, how many of us can say we have lived our life without regrets? We dare not to peruse our dreams simply because we are afraid that we may fail. Yet if it’s really our dream, it should be something that we can sacrifice whatever we have to realize. Just follow the call deep inside, live a life with no regrets.

A horrible incident

Recently, I read a piece of news from Chinese website. A pretty girl suffered horrible burns to her face and body because she had refused the advances of a boy. The girl incurred burns to 30 percent of her body, particularly around her head, neck and chest.
According to the girl’s mother’s words, the boy started asking the girl to be his girlfriend a few years ago, The girl refused the boy several times. At last, the girl’s family had to transfer the girl to another junior middle school to get away the boy, but it was all in vain. One day, the boy came into the girl’s home, and splashes the fluid or the oil of the lighter on the girl’ s head, and then burn it.
After the tragedy happened, at first, the boy’s parents were nice to the girl’s family and frequently visited the girl in hospital. Afterwards, the boy’s mother asked the girl’s parents to sign the paperwork for her son’s bail appeal when they awaited trial, but the girl’s parents refused. After that, the boy’s parents refused to pay any further medical bills for the girl. By the way, the boy’s parents are government officials.
However，the girl’s parents are low-salary workers, they did not have enough money to pay for the girl’s medical fee, now, the girl had to transfer to her home from the hospital. Now, her family fell into the arrears of more than 100,000 Yuan, about 20,000 Singapore dollars.
This incident happened in last September, but it was reported recently. Under the pressure of public voices of the society, the boy’s father posted an apology letter on the website, saying he would do everything possible to help the girl and would accept the legal judgment on his son.
Why the boy did such a cruel thing? I think the cause of the boy’s cruel personalities is lack of education from his family. There is a higher possibility that government officials’ children will be more willful than other children because of the superior economy condition. This boy was not only willful, but also crazy. The lack of good education leaded to some defects of his personalities. He was just a teenager, but he acted on the impulse of the moment, he ruined the whole life of a girl. If he was taught how to release his feelings after being rejected, the tragedy might not happen.
From this incident, we can realize how important the family education is. In the future, we all will become parents. At that time, I think that we must treat the family education seriously.

I forgot the exact time when this gorgeous font first appealed to me that much, inspiring any kind of writing on my laptop. It sounds a little bit farcical, anyway. The story could date back to my childhood when a kind of superstitious prediction was happily conducted in which I, if I remember it clearly, picked out a pen first without hesitation. That is to say, according to the relatives, this little boy would be more likely to take up something concerning writing in the future. That is quite interesting actually, if you do not take it seriously enough but only regard it as a household activity. How magic! A child that could fit your pocket was blessed to be a writer! The fact is, I did apt much more when it came to writing work. It could be described as one of my first “What do you want to do in the future boy?””I want to be a scientist!”  declarations, to be a writer. Things proceeded smoothly both in the kid’s heart and in the reality. Always one of the best ones in terms of writing is all that I want to use to compliment the kid, stopping right here. Pick up a pen, and write. That’s it.

When English became a part of our life, English writing seemed to appeal to me as well. This time I would share a story of my best friend in my junior high school. The guy was mature and excellent at that time, especially genius with respect to Chinese writing. Once he wrote a drama in an English composition assignment, which turned out to be the objective of our English teacher’s sarcasm, “Here it is not your stage to show creativity.” It could be one of the most fortunate things on this planet that my friend is quite a mature guy with excellent psychological quality to let out the words from his right ear as soon as it flew into his left one and continued to create his 8^th collected literature works’ book by himself, after reading several books about elementary education and principles to communicate with people. It could not be more plausible, as far as most teachers there were concerned, that you could not find the term “creativity” in their dictionaries, whether it was active or passive intent. When my mentor Qizhong asked the whole group if we were told to write fictions or something before the argument essay period, I don’t know how to answer, actually. Some of us wrote pieces on our own, earlier than you could imagine I guess. How promising and tragic. Clever guys knew how to focus all our time and efforts on what we needed and what they needed. They had such kind of incredible abilities to be adamant enough to judge your needs for your whole life.

Another story is about myself when I was in senior high school. Once among our countless trial examinations before the final entrance exam, my English teacher wanted to have a talk with me, with my English paper. She pointed at my English composition and said, “There are so many big words in your composition and it made the marker quite confused. Your score is OK, as you see here, just because that the marker opened the seal of your name and found that you are a student of the best class in our grade. “ I have nothing more than a ludicrous farce to describe this experience. In that 150 words, you behave yourself and put yourself exactly at the peak point of the normal curve, then you win the battle.

Sarcasm ought to be stopped far prior here, for it is trivial and tedious enough to be left alone. Several days ago I received my mother’s question about English grammar which appeared when she was helping my younger bro with his junior two study. “What should we call XX in the sentence YY?” Oh for God’s sake, I could not make it sure at all because I won’t say English grammar X or Y here. It was irresponsible to guess the XY issue and mislead my mum, so I just suggested that she refer to one of the thick grammar books and get the point accurately. We are always in different stages and observe the others with curiosity and reflections. It is refreshing and beyond description now to see my little bro dealing with the issues I used to be with. Anyway, the truth that needs no proof is that wherever you are, since you can not change the situation, you’d better adapt to it as soon as possible. That is how people survive.

Several weeks ago I finished my paragraph during the class, while our Famous Person just picked up his pen. He was shocked entirely and uttered unbearable compliments for me. I felt extremely honored and meanwhile, I pondered why I often did things like that. Was I interested in “Will You Use Internet For Romance?”? Not at all. The fact is that something just reached there faster than 3*10^5km/s and I picked up my pen and wrote down the whole thing. Although I am not accustomed to spending “a ridiculously long time” on just sitting there and doing nothing during an exam like Qizhong, I would spare a period of time reading the instructions of the essay several times and meditating, while observing others casually to find that they are busy doing something. When I close my eyes and cross my fingers, it is as if a dialogue with my own God or maybe not that abstract as you wish. When things come, as I mentioned, writing takes no time at all. It is nothing but a display of inspiration in my mind. Pick up a pen, and write down. When it comes to free writing like blogs or fictions, things are even simpler. Inspiration and creativity flows freely and comes up with fruitful results. Characters are exactly where it reaches. Of course I am not being flippant with respect to principles and regulations. However, compared with precious inspiration, they should not be the things that count most. Human beings progress and creations never originate from the repetition of routines and conventions.

So again, another several pages’ bullshit. How interesting. Verdana triggers no tedium.

He changed our lives.

Several months ago, we lost this genius, like the world lost a John Lennon.
His name is Steve Jobs.
In this blogger, we are going to look at Steve Jobs’ legacy in terms of his experiences and his ideas—ideas that will spur innovation, that will change the world.
In 1972, Jobs headed to Oregon, where he attended a small liberal arts college. He turned on, turned in and dropped out. He listened to the Beatles, and Bob Dylan, took LSD and went to India. When he returned to Silicon Valley in 1975, it was the dawn of the computer age, and Steve Jobs had a vision. He had an instinct that computer technology can be the source of transcendence, and that it can transform our lives. So he invented the Apple 1, the first personal computer, and formed Apple Computer Inc, which went public in 1980. At that moment, Steve Jobs is suddenly worth 200 million dollars.
However, things always happen. In 1985, he was sacked by his own company. He went through a real period of personal crisis, and that is a period of time which is hard to imagine today. At that time, he was more or less a laughing stock of Silicon Valley. After he left Apple Company, he sold all of his Apple shares but one. He still had millions of dollars, burning a hole in his pocket. Anyone but Jobs might have retired, and that is why Jobs is different.
Then he used his money bought the Pixar, and produced the “Toy Story” series which shocked the world greatly. In the same way, he made many successful computer animated films, which helped him re-raise his capital at a fast pace. With this money, he came back to Apple. It was the big comeback Jobs had been waiting for, and it cost him 10 years.
As Jobs began his second tour at Apple in the late 90s, he combined his two lifelong passions—music and computers to create a revolutionary new gadget—the Ipod. It was so convenient to have all of your music in your pocket. While Apple was flying high, the rhythm of Jobs’ own life was interrupted.
In July of 2004, he underwent a surgery to remote a malignant tumor in his pancreas. The man who seemed to have a solution for almost everything is increasingly haunted by this severe disease. Realizing he had a finite number of days on the earth, he accelerated his timetable.
On January 9th, 2007, the bomb dropped—the Iphone came on the market and totally blew the market away. Then the Ipad, which also made a historical success in IT markets. In fact, his creative output over the last 5 or 6 years was the greatest. After fighting against the disease for seven years, Steve Jobs left us, peacefully.
Let me end this passage in this way:
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
