Self-examination

                           Self-examination

When the problem happens, people prefer to blame others rather than examine themselves, without feeling guilty and uncomfortable. I also do the same thing, which sometimes makes me regretful.
In the New Year's Eve, I felt very excited after visiting the kind and enthusiastic host family.I stayed in the room and waited for the arrival of the New Year.Suddenly, someone knocked on my door.It was approximately 12'clock.Who was it, I wondered. So I let her come in with curiosity.Unfortunately, it was the teacher. What was worse. I realized I forgot the roll-calling.I felt so embarrassed that I thought she would criticize me strictly. However, to my surprise, she just told me not to forget it the next day.
I was very grateful because she did not scold me.Thanks to her forgiveness, I began to examine myself instead of complaining about others.Surely I could blame my roommate for his not reminding me or the hostel for its strict rule.As a matter of fact, the only reason for my mistake was my carelessness. If others could did it, why could not I?I found it quite ridiculous to blame others. When a person merely blames others, he is going to lose others' trust.
For example, when the Watergate scandal was exposed. Nixon's first thought was to blame for the accident to his assistants. However, when he finally admitted that it was his fault, he was no longer the president of America.Angry people did not want to listen to his excuse any more.
So I really try to give up this habit. However, it is not easy.Humans are so sensitive that they definitely tend to blame others to protect themselves. Even the great people as Nixon. We do not want to be hurt from our own mistakes.I hope one day I can be brave enough to admit my faults.
